K0KWC Club Meeting Recap – September 7, 2024
On a beautiful September morning, the Kilowatt Amateur Radio Club (K0KWC) gathered at the Highland Brew in Lamar, Missouri, for another productive meeting. Members came together to discuss upcoming events, club improvements, and some exciting plans for the future.
Wyatt Earp Days Special Event in October One of the main highlights of the meeting was the much-anticipated Wyatt Earp Days special event, scheduled for October. Members discussed preparations for this annual event, which celebrates the legendary Old West lawman and attracts a large audience of both ham radio enthusiasts and history buffs. Plans include setting up special event stations to promote amateur radio while honoring Wyatt Earp’s connection to Missouri. More details will be shared as the event draws closer, but it promises to be another memorable occasion for the club and the wider community.
Christmas Party Planning for December The festive season is just around the corner, and the club has already started planning its annual Christmas party. This year’s event promises to be a fun and festive gathering for members and their families. Discussion focused on venue options, catering, and entertainment ideas. AuxCom Event at Downstream Casino – September 10th Looking ahead, the club is gearing up for the AuxCom event at the Downstream Casino in September. This Auxiliary Communications event is a major opportunity for members to enhance their skills and collaborate with local emergency responders. It’s never too early to start preparing for this essential training and public service exercise.
Club Elections in December As we near the end of the year, club leadership elections are on the horizon. In December, the positions of Vice-President and Treasurer will be up for election. Nominations are currently open, and members are encouraged to consider running for these important roles. Serving on the board is a great way to get more involved in the club’s growth and direction, and we look forward to an exciting election season. With the introduction of HamClubOnline.com for the Kilowatt club, this year’s elections will be held electronically. Any club member, regardless of where he or she lives, will be able to vote. Upgrades to the Club Ham Bus In more immediate news, members were excited to hear about the recent upgrades made to the club’s Ham Bus. The bus, which has become a mobile hub for club activities, received several key improvements that will enhance its functionality during events. These upgrades include new radio equipment, improved antenna systems, and a fresh interior layout to make operations smoother and more efficient. The Ham Bus will be in action at upcoming events, including the Wyatt Earp Days, so be sure to check it out!
