The Kilowatt Amateur Radio Club (K0KWC) is dedicated to promoting fellowship, education, and community service through amateur radio. Based in Lamar, Missouri, the club brings together licensed operators and newcomers alike to share knowledge, develop skills, and support local events and emergency communications.
The club held its monthly meeting on Saturday, October 4, 2025, at the Lamar Christian Church, 1208 Walnut Street in Lamar, Missouri. The meeting was called to order by President Tim Ryder, N5STR, at 12:05 PM. Also in attendance were Vice President Chris Hunt, N0YH, four members, and one guest.
After introductions, members discussed moving the club’s regular meeting time to 10:00 AM to better accommodate schedules. The motion passed unanimously, making 10 AM the new start time for future meetings.
The club reviewed the success of the Wyatt Earp Special Event Station, which had just wrapped up, and planned for the upcoming Lamar Airport Fly-In on October 11, where members will again represent the club and promote amateur radio.
To fill recently vacated officer positions, Peggy Bryant, AE0XD, was appointed as Secretary, and Gary Troth, KF0NXN, was appointed as Treasurer. Both appointments were unanimously approved, and Peggy and Gary will serve in their roles until the next election cycles in December.
The club’s next meeting will take place on Saturday, December 6, 2025, at 10:00 AM, again at the Lamar Christian Church. This meeting will include official elections for Club President and Secretary, followed by the club’s annual Christmas Party. Voting will be conducted through HamClubOnline (HCOL), with any written or in-person ballots verified by the Secretary before being counted. Members are encouraged to vote online.
President Tim Ryder, N5STR, also gave an excellent presentation on IP phone services available to licensed ham operators, including Hams Over IP, AmateurWire, and the Groundwire app. Members enjoyed a Q&A session afterward before the meeting adjourned at 1:15 PM.
The Kilowatt Amateur Radio Club continues to grow in participation and enthusiasm. Members are encouraged to join the fun, get on the air, and help promote the great hobby of amateur radio in our community!
