The Kilowatt Amateur Radio Club (K0KWC) is proud to host its annual Wyatt Earp Special Event, celebrating the rich heritage of Lamar, Missouri. This year’s event runs from October 3rd through the 5th, 2024, and will feature the unique callsign W0E along with a special callsign N6C from California on 10 meters. California is Wyatt’s final resting place. Wyatt Earp, who served as Lamar’s first constable, is honored every year with the town’s Wyatt Earp Fall Festival, held in the historic downtown square.
In tribute to this legacy, our club will be operating a special event station in the days leading up to the festival, culminating in a live CQ call from the festival on Saturday. While we may be a small club, we proudly support our town’s history and invite operators to connect with us on 80-10 meters using phone and FT8.
We have a special, one-of-a-kind QSL card for the event, and we encourage all who make contact to send us their card so we can send one in return. This is a fun, community-focused event, and we hope you’ll join us in celebrating Lamar’s heritage. If you hear W0E on the air, be sure to give us a shout—thanks for supporting our event! Starts at 10am CDT to 3pm CDT daily from 3 October to 5 October.
In commemoration, we will be administering an FCC License exam at 12 noon from the bus on Townsquare.
